Band 5 Biomedical Scientist Chemical Pathology - Full time

The Blood Sciences department at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon has a vacancy for a Band 5 HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in the Chemical Pathology department. The successful candidate, once trained, will be required to participate in the single discipline shift system. Full training will be given to complete all tasks and consideration will be given to applicants who are very close to completing their HCPC registration portfolio.

This modern hospital (opened in 2002) is situated in the ever-growing town of Swindon with excellent access to the M4 corridor. There is an on-site restaurant, crèche facilities and a choice of coffee/tea outlets. The laboratory has its own rest area just along the corridor from the department.

We use Beckman DX series analysers as our main analytical platforms, with the laboratory currently completing procurement for a complete refresh of analytical and pre-analytical equipment. The department is fully computerised with CliniSys WinPath and carries out a range of automated and semi-automated tests and also covers Point of Care Testing analyses. The laboratory is actively reviewing its demand and capacity with the potential to bring some send away tests back in house.

We are committed to the development of staff and support for development including IBMS Specialist Portfolio can be expected.
