Spire Bushey Hospital offers comprehensive private hospital services to patients from Hertfordshire, North London and surrounding areas. In 2009 we underwent a £7 million investment programme which provided an upgraded state-of-the-art CT scanner, a fifth operating theatre, a new pathology laboratory, new X-ray equipment and an ophthalmic centre.

What we are looking for:

Bushey Hospital is looking for a full-time HPC registered Biomedical Scientist, with microbiology.

The Pathology Department offers a wide variety of services to our patients and Consultants across the main disciplines of Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology and Histopathology. You will be required to perform all duties expected of a HPC registered BMS in the laboratory in a professional and competent manner. To provide a high level of service that meets and strives to exceed all our customer’s expectations. To be a focal point for all customers (Consultants, patients, visitors and staff) and to present a high standard of personal appearance together with total confidentiality in every aspect of work at all times.

Working hours: Part time, 15 hours x2 days per week, weekend work included.


Skills required include:

BMS Grade1
Knowledge of Lab Centre systems desirable but not essential
Full HPC registration
Demonstrate computer literacy, i.e. E-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel

Competencies required:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to develop good working relationships.
To be computer literate with organisational and time management skills and an acute attention to detail.
