Frontier Pathology is a joint venture between Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. We are an innovative partnership of NHS pathology services, established to secure and develop pathology services for clinicians and their patients in Brighton, Surrey and Sussex. We provide pathology services in a wide variety of settings, serving our founding Trusts, other NHS and private hospitals and primary care organizations.
Post:Band 6 Specialist BMS Haematology/ Blood Transfusion
Base: East Surrey hospital, Redhill.
Band: 6 plus shift enhancement @ local rate. Salary £26,302 - £35,225 +Fringe High Cost Area Supplement.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, worked flexibly between 08:00 – 08:00. This post includes non- negotiable compulsory full shift participation.
We are looking for a highly motivated, HCPC registered experienced Biomedical Scientist with a specialist portfolio (or equivalent experience) to work in our busy Haematology/ Blood bank. Experience of working Out of Hours would be an advantage.
The laboratory is approved as a training site and is UKAS accredited. We also hold full compliance with the Blood Safety & Quality Regulations Act 2005. We encourage and support staff professional development.
The department provides a 24/7 service, covered by shift working which is remunerated at local rate. The following equipment are in use currently:
iLab- Apex Pathology computer system ( electronic ward /GP test ordering)
Sysmex XN9000
IL TOP 500 Coagulometers
Immucor Galileo & Echo (soon to be replaced with Ortho analysers)
Please be advised that this post is subject to a 6 month probationary period.
Travel to other Frontier Pathology sites may be required on occasion.
