Band 5 Biomedical Scientist Haematology

An exciting position has arisen to join our friendly and dedicated Blood Sciences team at the Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust.
This is an opportunity for an experienced band 5 or existing band 6 BMS to gain experience in a new Haematology laboratory environment.
The Haematology department is a highly automated laboratory using three Sysmex XE2100s, a Sysmex SP1000i slide maker / stainer, Sarstedt S2000 ESR systems, two Sysmex CS2100s, Biorad and Tosoh HPLC analysers. The Blood Transfusion laboratory employs Bio-Rad gel station immunohaematology analysers for grouping, antibody screening and identification. Cross matching is by EI or manual techniques.

The candidate will have:
• HCPC State registration as a Biomedical Scientist, with evidence of Continued Professional Development
• Good interpersonal / team working skills, and possess relevant specialist professional knowledge / experience
• Previous NHS laboratory experience is essential. It is desirable that applicants have an IBMS Specialist Diploma.

It is expected the candidate will work a whole time equivalent of 37.5 hours over a defined 7 days per week shift system once assessed as competent.
