We two excellent opportunities for experienced biomedical scientists or application support scientists to join Roche Diagnostics as a Product Specialist - Applications. This exciting role is part of the Systems Support Group, responsible for technical service cover in the areas of ICT, HIVD Field Applications, laboratory support co-ordination and Pre/Post Analytical solutions. The Group plays a key role in the implementation of installation projects, troubleshooting investigations at application and instrument levels and system modification.

As a Product Specialist-Applications, you will undertake a variety of user support functions including installation and commissioning of systems, product maintenance and training, and consultancy for both the users and for Roche personnel. This is a field-based role and your time will be spent predominately on installation and system optimisation; troubleshooting, sales and customer support; and customer training. The support will be primarily focused on cobas chemistry and immunoassay analysers and our pre- & post analytical solutions.

Other key responsibilities of this role include:
• Performing site surveys
• System setup and workflow design
• Assistance with tender responses, user training and product demonstrations
• Liaison and assistance with third party companies

Due to the nature of the role, you will also need to be willing to work unsociable and irregular hours, including providing an out-of- hours service, and be open to changes in work patterns in-line with market dynamics.

The successful candidate will be expected to live in the Midlands or North of England or be willing to relocate to an area with easy access to motorway links within this area. The role makes up part of a small team of 5 specialists covering England, Wales and Scotland.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will possess a thorough and up-to-date understanding of the IVD industry and have solid experience in implementing best-in-class laboratory practices - experience you will have acquired either in a hospital laboratory or with a similar diagnostics solutions providers.

You will have the ability to provide effective support for pathology laboratory solutions and be motivated by exceeding customer expectations, and instilling knowledge. Self-motivated, you will excel in the art of troubleshooting and taking ownership and pride in your work.

You’ll also be customer focused with the capability of working with minimum supervision and managing your time effectively. You will be expected to plan your own field work schedule and extensive travel arrangements autonomously.

In addition, the following skills/experience will be desirable:
• Familiarity with Roche products and instrumentation; in particular experience of Roche Clinical Chemistry and Immuno-assay analysers (Roche Modular, Cobas 6000, Cobas 8000)
• Knowledge of Roche IT solutions (e.g. PSM, Cobas IT middleware)
• Experience of training laboratory personnel
• Experience of implementing good laboratory practice
