Medical Laboratory Assistant (Band 3) – Clinical Chemistry
Applications are invited from suitably experienced individuals for the post of Medical Laboratory Assistant (Band 3) within the Clinical Chemistry laboratory of our Blood Sciences Department.

The successful applicant will be involved with the daily running of the Blood Sciences Reception area and assist the Biomedical Scientists within the analytical process. They will ensure the timely preparation of specimens to aid diagnosis and treatment.

The post holder will contribute to maintaining laboratory equipment enabling the provision a quality service. You will work closely with patients in the collection of sweat tests and in support of other visitors to the department.

The Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides the widest range of paediatric services for Birmingham, the West Midlands and beyond, with over 260,000 patient visits every year.

You will be taking on the role during an exciting transformation as the department continues its Blood Sciences development and progresses its merger with Birmingham Women’s Hospital Clinical Chemistry department.

We are looking for a highly motivated and competent individual to join the Chemistry team.

The post holder will be expected to participate in some aspects of the Clinical Chemistry extended working day and may be expected to contribute to the service at both the Women’s and Children’s hospital sites.
