Embryology Practitioner -37.5 hours per week (flexible to the needs of the service, occasional weekend working may be required on a rota system)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Embryology Practitioner to join our successful assisted conception unit at Plymouth, in the South West of England. We are currently performing over 400 cycles of assisted conception treatments annually. We offer a full range of infertility treatments including IVF, ICSI, IUI, DI, frozen cycles and sperm and egg donation and treat both self-funded and NHS patients.

Applicants should possess a BSc Degree in a Biological Science (2:1 or above). HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist would be advantageous. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and be able to work well both on their own, with the other embryologists and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. Attention to detail and precision are key attributes essential for the role.

The post holder will need to demonstrate good practical and theoretical understanding of human reproductive biology, andrology, infertility and assisted reproductive technology (ART). He/She will also need to keep up to date with current UK regulations and legislation according to the HFEA. Key duties will include semen analysis and preparations, egg collections, media preparation, assisting with the upkeep of the IVF laboratory e.g. stock taking, cleaning and record keeping.
