We are pleased to be offering an exciting opportunity for a Full time Biomedical Scientist to join our Immunology team based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Our regional Immunology department provides a unique opportunity to experience a comprehensive repertoire of Immunology investigations of routine and specialist Immunology assays for the diagnosis and management of autoimmunity, allergy, immunodeficiency and haematological malignancy.

Bringing with you relevant Immunology experience along with scientific and technical knowledge of immunological techniques, you will be a highly motivated individual capable of organising and prioritising specialist workload with good time management skills, gained working in an UK NHS laboratory. HCPC registration is desirable, however trainee or someone who is commencing the HCPC generic registration portfolio will be considered. Experience within this area would be desirable along with knowledge of SOP writing and ISO15189 standards.

In combination with using your technical knowledge to provide high quality patient services, you will also work closely with the senior team to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory through supervision and training of staff, and taking an active role in ensuring our quality agenda is centre to all we do. You will be required to troubleshoot equipment and assay issues, whilst also contributing to development of the service.

Current departmental operational hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm, with possibility of participation in an On Call weekend rota once completion of the training and competency programme, if required.

CPD is actively encouraged and supported. Suitable candidates may have the opportunity to undertake registration training in the IBMS Portfolio, in parallel to service needs.

Preference will be given in the first instance to existing NHS employees within the East Midlands healthcare community who are ‘at risk’ of redundancy. Such employees within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust will be considered first.

Suitable Part Time candidates may be considered on a flexible job share agreement so long as full time hours are covered.
