This permanent Specialist Biomedical Scientist post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, focused and enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to further develop their specialist knowledge and skills in Haematology & Transfusion, including Clinical Biochemistry, on this cross trained site.

You will be part of dynamic, experienced, critical front line blood science team that provides specialist services 24-7 to the patients of East Kent & beyond.

Our laboratories have recently been upgraded with state of the art automated systems to manage our ever increasing demand. We are also fully UKAS ISO 15189; 2012 accredited as are all Pathology disciplines within the organisation. Our 3 Transfusion laboratories are also fully MHRA compliant.

Our laboratories are positioned within the beautiful county of Kent, close to several areas of outstanding natural beauty (ANOB) and nestled historic towns steeped in history. All of our services are within close reach of the stunning Kentish Coast, London and the continent, supported by excellent transport links. We offer an exciting range of diagnostic tests and have a strong training ethos linked to career development e.g. Higher Specialist Diploma. We have specialist Flow Cytometry and Haemoglobinopathy services within our repertoire and our busy Blood Transfusion services provide blood product support to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance service.

After successful training and competency assessment the successful candidate will be expected to fully participate in our continuous processing pattern (CPP), 24-7 365, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. This system is fully WTD compliant.

Working as a large united team over 3 sites you will be expected to support sites other than your designated base where needs of the service arise. A resilient rotation is in place between our cross trained Canterbury and Margate sites.
