Specialist Biomedical Scientist Band 6
An opportunity has arisen for three Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join the dynamic and evolving team within the Haematology Department at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
The successful applicants will participate in the laboratory rotation through the core sections of Automated Haematology and Coagulation and the specialist area of Blood Transfusion; you will be expected to work at either laboratory site (University Hospital of Wales/University Hospital Llandough) and undertake their contracted hours over a seven day period with participation in shift working following a suitable period of training within the department.
The department is looking for HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists. The IBMS Specialist Diploma (if registered via IBMS Certificate of Competence) and participation in Out of Hours/shift working arrangements is essential and applicants will not be shortlisted without possession of this or earlier equivalent.
The Haematology Department is one of the largest in the UK offering a wide variety of analyses using modern equipment and processes over 3,000 samples each day. It has been offered UKAS ISO15189:2012 Accreditation and is an HCPC approved training laboratory. Training and development opportunities are available and all staff are encouraged actively to participate in CPD.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
