Biomedical Scientist – Biochemistry (Band 6) Salary £26,565 - £35,577 per annum (plus out of hours enhancements) Full time (37.5 hrs) with CPP participation.

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the busy biochemistry section of the Blood Sciences Department of Stepping Hill Hospital. The laboratory provides a 24/7 service to the hospital and patients of GPs in the surrounding areas of Stockport and High Peak.

Suitable candidates will have a sound working knowledge of clinical biochemistry and have recent experience of lone working nights and out of hours.

The department at Stockport has a tracked system of Advia 2400s and Centaur XPs supported by CentraLink system and also Sebia electrophoresis and immunofixation, DS2 and Menarini 9210; the laboratory system is CSC telepath linked to NPEX for referral work.

Appointees will rotate through all sections of the department as appropriate.

The Laboratories have full CPA accreditation and HCPC training status. The post-holder will be expected to participate in the shift rota pattern; therefore applications from individuals with a preference for night duty are particularly welcome. Candidates who are registered BMSs but without a completed specialist portfolio or equivalent experience will be offered a band 5 position if their application is successful (Band 5 salary range - £22,128 - £28,746 per annum).
