County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest integrated care providers in England, serving a population of around 600,000 people. We are a high performing organization with a track record of success.

The modernization of working practices has provided an opportunity to join the team providing a high quality Pathology service for County Durham.

Ideally we require a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly, dedicated and professional team but candidates currently working towards their IBMS registration portfolio may be considered. The successful candidate will be based in Clinical Biochemistry at UHND but may be required to work at other sites within the Trust. This is a busy laboratory with much to offer the successful candidate.

The job description is generic for all Blood Sciences BMS staff and all necessary training will be provided but evidence and experience in a UK laboratory in Clinical Biochemistry is essential. APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE THAT RELEVANT EXPERIENCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN OBTAINED WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential as is the ability to work within a team processing a high workload of blood sciences specimens.

Flexible working and participation in the Blood Sciences shift working rota is a requirement of the post.

The department offer a range of routine chemistry and immunoassay analysis as well as HbA1c testing, sweat testing and xanthochromia analysis. The laboratory continuously assesses and improves its testing repertoire and we have recently introduced P3NP testing. The department has installed the latest automated analytical solution from Siemens and has recently been assessed to UKAS standards. The LIMS is provided by Clinisys (WinPath).

A visit to the laboratory is highly recommended to those interested in this post.
