The Blood Sciences Department, Haematology Section at Birmingham Children's Hospital is looking to recruit a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist with Haematology experience to join the rotational pool of BMS staff. Appointment to Band 6 would require a specialist portfolio or equivalent experience. However, we will consider applications to Band 5 with progression to Band 6 from an enthusiastic individual looking to complete the specialist portfolio that has already completed their IBMS registration portfolio.

This small busy department performs a wide range of routine and specialised investigations on children with leukaemia and bleeding disorders in addition to supporting regional and supra-regional services in paediatric medicine and surgery. We support a busy Emergency Department, large Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac and Liver surgery and are a Bone Marrow Transplant centre. The work is interesting and varied and the department encourages and supports career development.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a Haematology laboratory and will rotate between General Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Haemostasis sections.

Participation in the out of hours service provision is required.

For further discussion or to arrange an informal visit to the laboratory please contact: James Taylor, Head BMS, 0121 333 9849, email: [email protected]
