Applications are invited for a consultant post in cellular pathology to join the dynamic team at Royal Derby Hospital.

The Cellular Pathology Department at Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is based on the site of Royal Derby Hospital and serves a population of 600,000. The Department is a UKAS accredited clinically led modern laboratory, which has pioneered extended biomedical scientist dissection and is a designated centre for many cancer sites, the regional centre for cytology screening, a pilot site for biomedical scientist reporting and has state of the art mortuary facilities. There is an appetite for continuing laboratory transformation and advances in modern laboratory technology are embraced.

Subspecialist reporting is well developed and as a consequence of retirement and expansion of services there is a range of opportunities available.

The department is committed to both undergraduate and postgraduate education. A commitment to the autopsy service is desirable.

The post is advertised as a full-time post with a 10 PA contract, with no on-call service commitment.

Applicants must hold the FRCPath (or equivalent qualification)

Applicants must hold Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.

Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.

Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
