An opportunity has arisen for suitably qualified, HCPC registered candidate to join The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust Pathology Team as a Biomedical Scientist, working in the Haematology/Blood Transfusion Department.
Applicants must have completed or nearly completed the IBMS specialist Portfolio in Haematology/Blood Transfusion and have proven post registration experience. Consideration will be given to individuals who have completed their Registration Portfolio with experience working with Haematology/Blood Transfusion for a Biomedical position. The post holder will be encouraged to continue with their own professional development, the department supports continuous learning and will support staff with career development opportunities.
The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust covers three sites, Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury Hospital. Haematology is present on all 3 sites; Blood Transfusion at Pinderfields and Dewsbury.
The department is under a managed service contract with Sysmex, the systems include:
CS5100s, CS2500s XN9000 with automated ESR and slide stainer at Pinderfields and XN2000s on the other 2 sites. BioRad IH-1000 Blood grouping analyser and Pinderfields and Dewsbury.
The Post Holder will be encouraged to help develop the Department enabling a cost effective and comprehensive service befitting a major provider of Pathology services, being fully supported by the Pathology Management team reporting directly to the Chief Biomedical Scientist in Haematology/Blood.
