Biomedical Scientist - Haematology and Blood Transfusion

Applications are invited for a HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist to work within the Haematology & Blood Transfusion Department at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants will have experience of working within routine Haematology & Transfusion and be HCPC registered.

Our laboratory at Poole Hospital provides a comprehensive Haematology & Blood Transfusion service for the surrounding population in East Dorset.

The department is well equipped with Abbott Cell-Dyn Sapphire, IL TOPS, Alifax ESR, Tosoh G8 and Ortho Vision platforms. We are currently in the process of procuring Sysmex XN-1000 FBC analysers and these are expected to be implemented in 2018. The laboratory information system is provided by CSC Telepath, connected to Sunquest ICE order communications, Plumtree scanning and Haemonetics blood tracking. An electronic quality management system is provided by Q-Pulse.

The department is CPA, MHRA, HTA and JACIE accredited and has also recently undergone successful UKAS assessment to ISO 15189 standards. The department is also IBMS approved for training (both registration and specialist). It is also involved in a successful placement student programme run by Plymouth University.
