Our Trust
Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS Foundation Trust comprises Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Rosie Hospital in Cambridge. With over 9000 staff and over 1100 beds the priorities of the Trust focus on a quality service which is all about people – patients, staff and partners. Recognised as providing ‘outstanding’ care to our patients and rated ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commissioner, is testament to the skill and dedication of the people who work here. CUH’s values – Together- safe, kind, excellent – are at the heart of patient care, defining the way all staff work and behave. The Trust provides accessible high-quality healthcare for the local people of Cambridge, together with specialist services, dealing with rare or complex conditions for a regional, national and international population.
The CUH.Cervical Cytology Network (previously know as the Pathology Partnership) is the 3rd largest screening laboratory in the UK.
We have a cervical cytology annual workload of approximately 145k samples.
We are the largest singly managed NHS provider of cytology services in East Anglia working as part of The National Cervical Screening Programme. Processing is undertaken in a purpose built modern building on the outskirts of Newmarket close to the A14 with free parking whilst screening is undertaken at both Newmarket and Colchester sites.
We work in conjunction with the Histology and Colposcopy Units of several acute Trusts. CUH, Colchester Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CHUFT), East & North Herts NHS Trust (ENH), North West Anglia Foundation Trust – Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust (IHT) Mid Essex Hospital services NHS Trust (MEHT) and West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (WSH)
This busy department is seeking an Consultant Biomedical Scientist/Hospital Based Programme Coordinator to be mainly based at our newly refurbished laboratory on the main Colchester hospital site. If successful you would be nominated as HBPC for one of the following acute trusts CUH, CHUFT, HIN, WSH and MEHT and provide a deputy role to your colleagues.
We provide MDT support for CUH, CHUFT, ENH, HIN, IHT, MEHT and WSH. A number of the MDT’s have the facility to videoconference so travel to each site is not essential.
We are currently in the process of converting part of our workload to HPV primary screening as part of our mitigation plans to ensure delivery of the 14 day TAT. As part of the interview you may be asked to do a short presentation – the topic for this will be sent through 2 days prior to interview.
