Frontier Pathology is a joint venture between Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. We are an innovative partnership of NHS pathology services, established to secure and develop pathology services for clinicians and their patients in Brighton, Surrey and Sussex. We provide pathology services in a wide variety of settings, serving our founding Trusts, other NHS and private hospitals and primary care organisations.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Blood Sciences team within Frontier Pathology.

The Royal Sussex County Hospital is a busy, tertiary referral hospital at the heart of vibrant Brighton. We provide a wide range of clinical services to a wide catchment area in the South East. Our Blood Science department offers a full diagnostic laboratory service, including a large Automation section, Toxicology, Immunology and a growing molecular diagnostics service.

The successful applicant will have opportunities to learn specialist techniques such as IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and immunofluorescence microscopy, as well as participate in the 24/7 provision.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists to work in our laboratory. Ideally you will be trained in blood sciences, although any experience in other pathology disciplines will be considered. In order to meet the requirements for a Band 5 appointment you will be required to have completed a Registration Portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry, and have clinical biochemistry experience.

The laboratory is committed to personal and professional development and staff have undertaken many opportunities in the past such as MSc courses, PhDs and international secondment.
We are a forward thinking department, with active and developing research themes within the department as well as consistently developing our services.
