Pathology First is a joint venture between Southend University Hospital, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals and Integrated Pathology Partnerships (“iPP”). The services provided by Pathology First cover all disciplines including Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Histopathology, Cytopathology and Phlebotomy.

Established in 2010, IPP is a fast growing, commercially effective, UK company dedicated to high quality Pathology Services and enabling UK healthcare organisations to strengthen the delivery and efficiency of services to patients, partnering with the NHS and numerous private healthcare companies.iPP operates seven laboratories in the UK performing seventeen million tests per year, and employs approximately 600 scientific and support staff in its UK laboratories.
We are seeking, qualified, hardworking Specialist Biomedical Scientists who are self-motivated and focused on quality to join our teams. You should be HCPC registered, with experience in NHS or private hospitals.
You will join our busy, professional and friendly teams at an exciting time as we transition into a brand new off-site state of art hub laboratory and refurbish our hospital based services into modern essential service laboratories.
We are opening the new hub laboratory in early spring with the latest state of art technology solution for core blood science with fast open tracks allowing agile automation links. All laboratories will be linked with the latest Clinisys Enterprise LIMS.
Committed to its staff, Pathology First actively encourages staff development with constant focus on quality and continuous improvement. Our laboratories are CPA, MHRA and CQC accredited and approved for IBMS Training which means we can offer support for scientific training at all levels, helping you to develop both professionally and personally.
Specialist Biomedical Scientist roles are available for candidates with the following:
Greater than 2 years post registration experience of working in a biomedical laboratory at post graduate level
Experience of IT applications including LIMS systems, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Statistical packages.
Advanced working knowledge of various automated techniques, practices and analytical platforms within their chosen pathology discipline
Competency to perform testing and validate results to defined protocols.
