An opportunity has arisen for a HCPC Registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist, Band 6 or Band 5 (dependant on relevant qualifications), to join the Laboratory Medicine (Blood Sciences) Service at ABMU Health Board based in South Wales. This modern pathology hub and spoke network covers three hospital sites with the hub site at Morriston Hospital and two essential service laboratories based at Singleton Hospital and the Princess of Wales Hospital. The applicant will be expected to work on all sites.
We are a dynamic department which provides analytical services comprising of Haematology, Transfusion and Clinical Biochemistry. We have recently procured new equipment on all sites, Sysmex, Roche and Ortho to standardise service delivery across the network.
Laboratory Medicine is developing a multidisciplinary workforce and cross training between Haematology and Biochemistry specialisms. The Department particularly wishes to welcome applicants who have experience in Haematology and Transfusion in the first instance, although applicants with Biochemistry experience will be considered. We are looking for an enthusiastic Biomedical Medical Scientist who will further embrace the challenges of cross training to progress to multidisciplinary working. Additional opportunities to rotate to specialist areas within Laboratory Medicine will be provided dependant on service needs.
Salary and banding will depend upon relevant experience.
There is a requirement for participation in the multi-site rota covering all shifts where flexible working is a requirement of the post. Shift enhancements under Agenda for Change terms and conditions apply.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.
