Senior Biomedical Scientist - (Biochemistry)
An opportunity has become available for a dedicated SENIOR BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST (Biochemistry) to join our team. You should have an understanding in process management and lean principles so as to be able to lead, direct and support the team on a daily basis. You should also have an interest in IT to provide first line support within the laboratory. You will be working with well trained staff in a laboratory equipped with new analysers and automation in a modern purpose built Pathology block.
The laboratory uses WinPath LIMS and Roche COBAS 8000 analysers.
The Blood Sciences laboratory provides a high quality comprehensive clinical biochemistry, haematology, coagulation and transfusion services to Bedford Hospital NHS Trust and surrounding General Practices. In addition the department provides a porphyria service. This post holder will be expected to manage the day to day clinical chemistry department and take on additional responsibility to lead on laboratory IT issues.
You will be working in a UKAS accredited laboratory performing approx. 3.7 million investigations per year. The laboratory also has IBMS training status for registration and specialist BMS training.
The successful candidate will be HCPC registered, highly motivated with good interpersonal and team working skills. They will be expected to have a Master’s Degree or equivalent, previous laboratory experience and committed to staff training and service improvements.
Bedford has excellent road and rail links, with the hospital a short walk from the main railway station.
You will be encouraged to participate in CPD activities and supported in additional training where needed.
